theatre

I love photographing people performing, whether it be large-scale musical  theatre, a shouty, dingy gig or improv that goes on for days (believe me, it's a thing, a wonderful insane thing!!).

I love the uncertainty of improv, I have no idea what's going to happen next - although a lot of the time I can have a good guess - and it's like extreme theatre photography. Nothing makes me happier than photographing some of the best improvisers in the world, doing the thing they do best.

music

I'm a scruffy rock music geek, there's no hiding it. I love being stuck between a speaker stack and a tiny stage finding the one usable point of light in the darkest of rooms.

Faces are brilliant, why would you want to photograph a landscape or a plant (although I personally think landscape photographers are wizards, those tiny increments of light & colour, but that's another discussion for another day!) when you can photograph a living, moving, laughing face.
